"Alive in Roswell returns November 19 as an additional 2026 event added after the June 18 festival was canceled due to weather." That line is on the Roswell365 listing for the make-up festival, and it gives Roswell something it doesn't usually have: a November evening of Alive in Roswell on Canton Street.
The rest of the season follows the same pattern. Riverside Park is closed for renovation, so the city's holiday calendar this year sits almost entirely in and near the historic core. Most of the new coffee shops and cafés opened within walking distance of the main events.
The City of Roswell describes Alive in Roswell as a free monthly festival on the third Thursday evening of each month from April through October. That means the November date is an extra night, not a longer season. The City's special events page lists Alive in Roswell among its six signature events, along with Music on the Hill, Riverside Sounds, the 4th of July Celebration, the Youth Day Parade and the Christmas Tree Lighting.
The make-up night runs 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, on Historic Canton Street and the Roswell Antique and Interiors Lot. Admission is free. Leashed dogs are welcome, and owners are expected to clean up after them. To get real-time updates on weather, traffic changes and safety during the festival, text ROSWELLEvent to 888777 to join the city's ALERTRoswell event alerts.
Sunset comes earlier in November than at any other Alive night this year, so a late-afternoon coffee before the festival makes sense. Two of the newest options are a few minutes' walk from the festival. Cafe Sparrow is at 1207 Canton St. and appeared in Roswell Inc's spring 2026 business roundup. On Webb Street, V's Coffee Collab opened its first brick-and-mortar shop in September at 34 Webb St., Suite 104, next to West + Peak Roswell Supply. The Roswell Ledger reported that owner Harrison Bernard, a musician who has roasted coffee for about four years, runs the 473-square-foot shop and pairs each bag of coffee with a local artist's work. Before opening the shop, the business ran for several years as a roasting and catering operation.
Riverside Sounds, which the city calls its longest-running outdoor concert series on the banks of the Chattahoochee, is on hold while Riverside Park at 575 Riverside Road is renovated. The city's special events page says the park is planned to reopen in summer 2027.
With the riverfront out of use, the season is concentrated in a small area. The Christmas tree lighting is on Canton Street. The holiday concerts are on Forrest Street. The Makers Market is on Woodstock Road, a short drive north. Only the Holiday Expo and the Chattahoochee Nature Center exhibits are farther out, and the dates below show how they fit around the downtown events.
Thanksgiving weekend has the Expo on both Friday and Saturday. The last two weeks of December belong to the Cultural Arts Center. The busiest stretch falls in between.
The tree lighting and the Makers Market land on consecutive days, Friday evening and Saturday daytime, so one weekend covers both.
The tree lighting listing describes a free evening at Heart of Roswell Park with carols, hot chocolate, Santa and a 40-foot tree. Because the park's address is on Canton Street, the walk from Cafe Sparrow or the Webb Street shops is short.
On Saturday the Roswell Makers Market is held indoors at Roswell Visual Arts Center, so the weather doesn't matter. The free market features local handmade goods and has a Winter Wonderland photo installation. With hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., you can arrive late morning and still be back downtown for lunch.
Several of this year's openings are along the roads that lead out of downtown, and they pair easily with the events away from Canton Street.
Bizarre Coffee opened its largest location yet on Alpharetta Street, according to Roswell Inc's spring roundup. The same roundup reported a grand opening for Proper Hop Taphouse's renovated downstairs lounge on Atlanta Street, which works as a stop after a Cultural Arts Center matinee.
Roswell Inc's summer roundup reported two more. Jeremiah's Italian Ice held the grand opening of its first Roswell location, owned by Nahalia Thomas. Spice of Thai started a new chapter under new ownership, with a ribbon cutting and a redesigned interior.
To the north, the main dining room at Georgian Corner has reopened after a short break, Rough Draft Atlanta reported in August. Nina Armstrong and Gocha Gelashvili own the restaurant, and its khachapuri was the focus of that story. The restaurant is at 10930 Crabapple Road, according to Rough Draft's earlier feature on Georgian Corner.
Also north, You42 Studios at 11000 Alpharetta Hwy., Unit A, has three food concepts: High Horse, Big Shots and AJ's Pizzeria. Atlanta News First reported in June that Top Chef alum Katsuji Tanabe oversees all three. You42's dining page now presents them as operating.
Two more openings could change future evenings out. Toasted Yolk is planned for 1570 Holcomb Bridge Road, Suite 855. In late September, Business Debut reported that franchisee DeBlair Tate was aiming to open around Thanksgiving. Treat that as a target date, not a firm opening day.
The bigger addition to downtown is further off. Rough Draft Atlanta reported in August that Hal's "The Steakhouse," the long-running Buckhead restaurant, plans a downtown Roswell location to open next spring, along with a new Midtown location. Owner Sammy Jimenez picked a spot near the corner of Canton Street and Elizabeth Way, a few doors from Little Alley Steak.
If both projects stay on schedule, Hal's on Canton Street and the reopened Riverside Park should arrive within a few months of each other in 2027. Next year's season will have more places to spread out. This year's runs on the historic core.
