Buckhead's Holiday Season Now Runs on Reservations

October 29, 2026

Buckhead's 2026 holiday calendar has no single night everyone shows up for. Instead it's an 18-seat sake dinner, a $25 runway show, a Santa you see by appointment and a December photo session that sold out by late October. The season now runs across Buckhead Village, Phipps Plaza, Lenox Square, Chastain Park and the Atlanta History Center. Most of the events are small, dated and capped, so the open spots go to whoever books first.

The tree lighting that used to start the season

For a long time, a Buckhead holiday season had an obvious opening night. In December 2023, the AJC reported that Macy's had retired the Lenox Square Great Tree Lighting ceremony. As of late October, nothing in Buckhead's 2026 calendar has taken its place as a single shared ceremony.

In its place is a long list of smaller events. Each district runs its own programming, and many of the best events have a seat count, a ticket price or a sign-up link. If you want to be at them, the season starts with a calendar and a few early reservations.

Buckhead Village: the smallest rooms fill first

The Buckhead Village District calendar shows how small these events can get. Most November dates are hosted by a single shop or restaurant, and several are built around a counter or a tasting menu rather than a crowd.

  • Brush: Dessert Omakase, Sunday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. The listing describes a dessert tasting with courses that mix sweet and savory.
  • IWA x O by Brush Dinner, Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. This is an 18-seat omakase paired with IWA Sake, about the smallest room on the Buckhead calendar this month.
  • Brush: Tuna Cutting & Tasting, Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 6 p.m. It's a limited-seating dinner built around bluefin tuna.
  • Todd Patrick events. The store is hosting a busy run of gatherings: Common Ground with Cometa Coffee on Nov. 1, a wine tasting with womenswear brand Amari Carter that afternoon at 4 p.m., Common Ground with Drip Caphe Vietnamese coffee on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m., and a chess tournament and social with Chess Never Checkers that same day at 4 p.m.
  • Buckhead Village Car Club, Sunday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. The district calls this the first meetup of the club.
  • One Italian Girl Pop-Up at Bella Cucina, Saturday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m. Danielle Monti-Morren brings her collection to the Bella Cucina Store x Studio.

The closest thing the Village has to a holiday headliner is The Village Edit: Holiday Edition. It's a runway show on Friday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25, and proceeds benefit Camp Twin Lakes. Even the district's biggest holiday night is ticketed.

A newer place to go before or after Village events is Y Bar e Ristorante. Rough Draft Atlanta reported that it opened in late July at 3065 Peachtree Road in the former Storico Vino and Pachengo spaces, with covered and outdoor seating.

Phipps and Lenox: holiday events move to appointments

The two malls show the same pattern on a larger scale. Their holiday programs now come with booking rules and planned schedules.

Santa at Phipps Plaza opens Saturday, Oct. 31, and runs through Wednesday, Dec. 23. Visits are by appointment only, and pre-registration is online. The schedule also has more closed days than most families expect. Most weeks Santa is out on a Tuesday, and he's closed Nov. 2, Nov. 4 and 5, Nov. 10, Nov. 17, Thanksgiving Day, Dec. 1, Dec. 8 and Dec. 15. Sunday hours vary, with some ending at 4:30 p.m. Families without an appointment can ask at the Santa Desk about last-minute cancellations.

Phipps also has two dated events on its calendar:

  • The Luxe Edit, Saturday, Nov. 7, noon to 5 p.m. Eligible shoppers who spend $1,500 can receive a $100 Visa gift card while supplies last.
  • Grinch on The Green, Thursday, Dec. 3. It's an outdoor screening with seasonal bites from the Food Hall and free Grinch photos.

Across Peachtree, Lenox Square has filled the old tree-lighting slot with a two-month program. It's a Holiday Thing at Lenox Square runs Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. Santa photos run Nov. 14 through Dec. 24. Santa Paws, for photos with pets, falls on Nov. 22 and Dec. 13. Caring Santa is Dec. 6, and the Teal to Heal fashion show is Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. An Atlanta Opera performance takes place Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m.

Two Saturdays where everything overlaps

Spreading the season out has a side effect. A few dates now carry far more than one family can fit in. Two Saturdays stand out.

The Chastain Park Arts Festival is the one large open-air event in the November lineup. It runs Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The festival says it will feature up to 185 painters, photographers, sculptors, glassblowers, jewelers and other artists. It also offers demonstrations, live entertainment and hands-on art activities, and it benefits a scholarship fund for local artists run by the Georgia Foundation for Public Spaces. The Sunday hours are the more relaxed option. That day also overlaps with the Buckhead Village Car Club meetup that morning.

Winter Fest at the Atlanta History Center on Dec. 5 is the clearest example of how quickly these events fill. The event page went up Oct. 23. Winter Fest itself is free for Members and Insiders, and everyone else buys a ticket. The page already lists Morning Photos with Santa at Swan House as sold out. Those sessions were sold first come, first served and only to Members and Insiders. If you want the Swan House photos next year, book in October, not December.

What's open nearby, and what has changed

Lucy's Market has moved. The AJC reported that the gourmet food, wine and decor shop finished its move from Andrews Square, its home since 2009, to a larger freestanding store at 3402 Piedmont Road NE, near Piedmont and Lenox roads. The new store sits near the Piedmont and Lenox intersection, a short drive from both malls' holiday programs.

Several restaurants have also opened or closed along Peachtree since summer:

  1. High Noon Brunchery is on the "Now Open" list in Rough Draft Atlanta's August openings roundup. The restaurant lists its address as 2285 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 103. It's an option for a late breakfast before a Santa appointment.
  2. Smooth N Groove, serving smoothies, juices, wraps and salads, appeared in Buckhead in Rough Draft's September roundup.
  3. CVI.CHE 105 was listed by Rough Draft in August as coming to Phipps Plaza in fall 2026. Check before you plan a meal there.
  4. The Chick-fil-A at Terminus 100 served its last day on July 31 after operating there since 2008, 11Alive reported.
  5. APT 4B ended service at 2293 Peachtree Road on July 18. What Now Atlanta reported that the restaurant intends to return in a new location.

PATH400 is changing too. In the August 2026 PATH400 update, Livable Buckhead's executive director reported nearly five miles of trail open. Construction north of Loridans Drive was underway, with completion estimated for the first quarter of 2027. Atlanta and Sandy Springs are working toward a coordinated opening that could stretch continuous PATH400 to about 7.4 miles. The same update said the Peachtree Park connector and southern Beltline connection were expected to start construction in early 2027, and it cautioned that schedules may shift. For holiday walks this year, watch for construction signs and temporary closures along the northern stretch.
